Join Metal and National Institute of Music and Dance from Warsaw for an exclusive premiere of the film Pióra – on Sunday 25th September where we will be hosting an online film screening and panel discussion with the artists involved.
In 2022, the National Institute of Music and Dance partnered with the UK-based METAL under the International Collaboration Grants. The resulting project entitled. “International and intersectional dance for camera” co-financed by the British Council.
As part of the project, on September 25, 2022, there will be a premiere of the dance film titled. “Feathers” and a meeting with artists.
The film was created with the participation of Polish artists Dominika Feiglewicz and Patrycja Jarosinska – participants of the Dance and Disability Labs, as a result of cooperation with the British METAL organization and British choreographer Kate Marsh, director Jay Gearing and cinematographer Pawel Penarski. The artists previously met during the National Institute of Music and Dance’s international choreographic residency PolandDances.
The piece “Feathers” touches on the themes of disability, attitudes towards one’s own body and finding unity in friendship, solidarity and nature. Inclusivity in art was of great importance to everyone working on this film. The process of making the film was an opportunity for all involved to share thinking and knowledge about their life experiences in different cultural and geographic contexts.
