Freszel Duo is an ensemble of outstanding young Polish artists involved in numerous and varied artistic projects featuring music spanning the nineteenth century and the latest compositions. In 2018, the duo recorded the album Śpiewnik polski (Polish Songbook), an anthology of twentieth and twenty-first century Polish song (Orphée Classics, 2018), and in the 2019/2020 artistic season they made a concert tour of Polish philharmonic halls performing a song recital as part of the ‘Scena Muzyki Polskiej’ (‘Polish Music Stage’) program.

Joanna Freszel (soprano) is the winner of the Golden Orpheus awarded by L’Académie du disque lyrique for the best contemporary music interpretation on her debut album Real Life Song, dedicated to music of Polish composers. She performed in the Teatr Wielki – National Opera in Warsaw, the Grand Theatre in Poznań, the Estonian National Opera and Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville. She also toured in Poland and abroad with many orchestras and worked with conductors such as Jerzy Maksymiuk, Gabriel Chmura, Jacek Kasprzyk, Paul Esswood and Wim Boerman, among others.

Łukasz Chrzęszczyk after completing his studies, he started teaching at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, where he has a class of chamber music with piano and where, as a pianist, he works with instrumental music students. He has performed at such venues as Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the headquarters of the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, as well as at philharmonic halls in Bratislava, Milan and Warsaw. Chrzęszczyk has recorded for Polskie Radio (Polish Radio) and TVP Kultura, and released several CD albums. He has recently finished a project called ‘Antologia mazurka’ (‘Mazurka Anthology’), whose aim was to record as many as several dozen forgotten mazurkas written by Polish composers.

The project Polish Music on Stage / US Edition is realized by the National Institute of Music and Dance, co-funded by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the Inspiring Culture program.

Presented in partnership with the Polish Cultural Institute New York and the Polish Music Center in Los Angeles.
