This film documents workshops on the construction of the bagpipes of Wielkopolska [dudy wielkopolskie] and sierszenki led by Andrzej Mendlewski as part of the 1st Master School of Folk Instruments Makers, a programme of the Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw.
The workshops took place between 17 June and 24 November 2012 in the master’s workshop in the village of Wielka Wieś, as well as in Stęszew, Poznań, Kopanica and Opalenica. Andrzej Mendlewski was assisted by Bartosz Mendlewski and Janusz Jaskulski acting as a moderator. The participants were 4 members of the Koźlary band from Stęszew and the Stary Gołębin bagpipe band. Seven sessions were held in Andrzej Mendlewski’s workshop, one was a trip to the Museum of Musical Instruments in Poznań, and another was a trip to the Folk Music Competition in Kopanica.
