In just a month, the city of Düsseldorf will host the International Dance Fair. Tanzmesse 2024, the most important networking event of its kind in the world. Polish dance will be promoted jointly by the National Institute of Music and Dance and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute!

The International Dance Fair Tanzmesse 2024 will be held in Düsseldorf from August 28 to August 31, 2024. This year, the event will see an unprecedentedly large number of Polish artists selected for participation in the prestigious Tanzmesse open call. As a result, the Holobiont collective, Ramona Nagabczyńska and Janusz Orlik will showcase their performances in Düsseldorf . The National Institute of Music and Dance (NIMiT) and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (IAM) are joining forces to promote Polish dance internationally.

The lead theme of NIMiT and IAM’s presence at this year’s Tanzmesse will be creative relationship building and collaboration in the field of dance. In this regard, both the program, and the PolandDances platform (NIMiT) will become a multimedia showcase for foreign dance producers and promoters, presenting the richness of the Polish dance community, from institutions and NGOs to independent groups and individual artists, as well as the full range of co-production opportunities and the benefits entailed. Also featured will be programs supporting international cooperation in the field of the field of dance, including: “Supporting International Activity” and “PolandDances /. Tournée,” implemented by NIMiT and “Polish Culture in the World,” implemented by IAM.

The event will feature three of the five presentations recommended to Tanzmesse 2024 organizers, showcased in a variety of formats:

  • On Stage category: “My Tail and I” choreographed and performed by the Holobiont collective – Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska, Hanna Bylka-Kanecka, Danuta Chmielewska, Ewa Garniec (production: Performat Foundation).
  • Open Studios category: “Silenzio!” choreographed by Ramona Nagabczyńska, performed by Katarzyna Szugajew, Karolina Kraczkowska, Barbara Kinga Majewska and Ramona Nagabczyńska (production: Nowy Teatr).
  • Insights category: “Symphony No. 3” choreographed and performed by Janusz Orlik (production: Janusz Orlik, Centre for Culture / Przestrzenie Sztuki. Taniec).

In addition, the Fair will include a meeting titled “Dancing & Parenting,” held as part of the Meet-up format, moderated by Renata Piotrowska-Auffret, with the participation of invited Polish artists, devoted to the topics of dance and parenting.

The PolandDances stand will be operated by the management and staff of NIMiT and IAM, who will showcase Polish dance in various forms, from video presentations through virtual reality and networking.

The Fair will also host many more Polish dance companies, artists and various presentations, helping establish Polish presence at the Tanzmesse NRW 2024 independently.
