Developing and improving the quality of Polish music critics

description

The programme is addressed to Polish musicologists, music theoreticians, reviewers and critics, as well as representatives of other humane studies who are interested in learning the principles of music criticism or are willing to take their competence in this respect to the next level.

The 3rd edition of the Programme “Music Critics 2.0”, organized in cooperation with Opera NOVA in Bydgoszcz, is devoted to opera criticism.

Participants will take part in a theoretical lecture by Professor Małgorzata Komorowska and workshops lead by Dr Daniel Chichy. They will also attend  the workshops and panel discussions of the Opera Criticism Forum (9-11 May 2013), held by Opera Nova as part of the 20th Bydgoszcz Opera Festival.

The material to be reviewed and criticised includes Khovanshchina by Modest Mussorgsky and Poiesis by Przemysław Zych, both to be shown at the 20th Bydgoszcz Opera Festival. Poiesis came to life as part of the Composer Commissions programme and will have its world premiere at the festival.

Written output of the workshops will be published in printed and online musical journals.

The deadline for applications (including completed application form, CV and cover letter) is 5 April. The results of the call will be published on 17 April 2013. Students who have completed the third year of study and holders of bachelor’s degrees are also eligible for participation.
